Discover the Astrology of African Empires with Taylor Jackson during this Sunday's OPA Mercury Hour!

From the Aksum Empire (modern day Ethiopia and Eritrea) to the Kingdom of Benin (modern day Nigeria), explore how mundane astrology reveals the rise, peak and decline of some of Africa’s most influential civilizations and strongest global powers. Using Aries ingress charts, Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions, and outer planet transits, we will observe how astrology reflects the major changes of these pre-colonial African empires.

Predictive astrology is a wonderful tool and, when practiced well, it leaves plenty of room for the unknown. The chaos of eclipse season, the mysteries of the fourth, eighth, and twelfth houses, the vastness of Neptune and Pluto – these phenomena evade our understanding.

However, whether out of anxiety or ego, those who love astrology can fall into the trap of striving for omniscience - attempting to predict every event in an effort to control life itself. When working with a predictive tool accepting and navigating uncertainty must become an intentional practice.

In this workshop we will explore the areas of mystery in an astrological chart, as well as the areas of strength that empower us to face the unknown with confidence. We will share personal practices for navigating uncertainty and for recognizing when it’s time to shrug our shoulders and say “I don’t know”.

This month we’re zooming OUT: away from the natal chart and into the planetary cycles shaping history, politics, and collective reality.

We’ll be breaking down the major long-wave cycles defining our era:
• Saturn–Neptune conjunction
• Saturn–Pluto cycle fallout
• Jupiter–Saturn cycle story
• Mars’ 2-year cycle & how shorter patterns activate bigger ones

We’re looking at historical correlation; revolutions, ideological collapse, tech upheaval, information warfare, global power shifts, and asking:

What actually repeats? And what’s emerging now?

Guest speaker: Taylor (@valoraastrology)
Facilitated by Rosalie, Bren & Zane

Sliding scale: $10–$45
Come early, stay late : café open ☕️

If you’ve been trying to understand the bigger pattern behind the current transits, this one’s for you.

When Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto form patterns in the sky, our world changes.

The American Revolution and Civil War, Haitian Revolution, War of Mexican Independence, and the African-American Civil Rights Movement all took place during these powerful planetary alignments - many of which are echoing today.

In this interactive workshop you’ll learn about these astrological cycles, how they align with past events, and what they suggest about the movements for justice and liberation unfolding today.

Aries is the celestial fighter. The first sign of the zodiac, it represents autonomy, sovereignty, and life itself. As we close the Aries-Libra eclipse series and welcome Neptune and Saturn into Aries this year, we are called to awaken the Spiritual Warrior.

How will you proclaim joy over your life? What causes and communities will you stand for? What actions will you take to bring the world of your dreams to life? How can you protect your fire from manipulation and misdirection?

In this group reiki experience we will embrace fire energy with mindfulness as we contemplate the questions above. By integrating fire in a heart-forward manner, we resist senseless violence and division and act from a place of love.

Spiritual Warrior: step fully into your power, ignite your passion, and light the fire of devotion.

Event cost: $55 ($35-$55 sliding scale)

Astrology: it’s thousands of years old and currently trending everywhere from pop culture to politics. But what is it, why are there so many parts, and how do I begin to wrap my head around it all?

The Intro to Astrology workshop will teach you the basics, defining terms like placement, element, modality, natal, transit, aspect, and house. You’ll come away with an essential understanding of the language of astrology and what makes the whole thing “work”.

Astro beginners, this one’s for you!

*Please note, this workshop is a starting point and will not give you the tools needed to perform professional readings.

In this group reiki experience we will ask our Selves to dissolve and connect with our Higher Power - whether concrete (a specific deity or figure), esoteric (the universe, a general sense of oneness), or both.
